The Microsoft® SDK for AFC, version 1.0 is a new offering which contains both JDK 1.0.2-compatible and JDK 1.1-compatible versions of AFC.
Note Both versions of AFC are still available in the Microsoft SDK for Java version 2.02 but are not included in the SDK for Java version 3.2 or later.
Installation Prerequisites
- The Microsoft SDK for AFC requires Microsoft® Windows® 95, Microsoft® Windows® 98, Microsoft® Windows NT® 4.0 (or later), or any Solaris or HP-UX version supporting the browsers listed below:
JDK 1.0.2-compatible AFC requires one of the following browsers:
- Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 3.02 or later, running on Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0

Note If you are using Internet Explorer 3.02, you must have Authenticode 2 update installed before installing this SDK. You can download the update from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/security/authent2.asp.
- For Windows NT users Windows NT Service Pack 3 or later must be installed prior to installing the Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM) on x86 or Compaq DIGITAL Alpha architectures.
- The SDK for AFC release notes, complete installation instructions, and End User License Agreement (EULA) are available for review at www.microsoft.com/java/sdk/32/default.htm.
- AFC Detect is a useful program that allows you to determine if JDK 1.0.2-compatible AFC or JDK 1.1-compatible AFC are installed on your client machine. If AFC Detect
indicates that AFC is not present, AFC may have been installed in an incorrect location. AFC Detect is also provided as JDK 1.0.2-compatible and JDK 1.1-compatible AFC samples:
