The Webtop Wizard
With the advent of Netscape Netcaster, Netscape has pioneered the "webtop",
a desktop Web environment created out of HTML, Java, and JavaScript that
runs on multiple platforms and allows users to access the wealth of information
and resources on a company intranet and/or the Internet right from their
desktops.
To aid developers in creating customized webtops, Netscape is now introducing
the Webtop Wizard, an easy to use tool that helps you to build a Dynamic
HTML webtop containing links to the web pages and applications that you
find useful within your company or on the Internet.

GETTING
STARTED
Click on each of the tabs to enter settings, then press the "Generate
Webtop" button. This creates all the resources for your webtop and asks
for you to specify the directory into which to save the webtop including
the collateral graphic resources it requires. Once you've done this open
your newly created webtop by using file open in Communicator to open the
index.htm file in this directory.
Drawers are provided in which you can group your applications and HTML
pages. Sections are the primary modes of your webtop and when clicked bring
up a URL in the main body of the webtop. Currently only non-framed web
pages are supported by sections.
The webtop includes a ticker, which takes information from a separate
file. A company or division could hold this ticker file on the network
and update it with news and information relevant to employees. The ticker
can contain html links referencing more details on this news.
